Troubleshooting
If you have difficulties logging into or creating a Parent Portal account, this troubleshooting guidance will help you identify and resolve common issues. Please expand the areas below:
Logging in / registering
Before you can start using the Parent Portal, you need to register for an account. Follow these steps:
- Register for an account on the Parent Portal.
- Enter the authentication code sent to your email. If the authentication code isn’t received, try these steps:
- Check your Junk or Spam folders.
- The code can take up to ten minutes to be received.
- Click on please send me a new code.
- Close your browser, clear your cache, and retry.
Don't use auto fill to complete the username and password, you should type the details manually.
If you have already registered, use the 'forgotten password' link to reset your password.
Check your internet connection
Make sure that you have a stable internet connection. To do this, try accessing other websites or online services to check if the problem is specific to the Surrey County Council Parent Portal site. If you know your internet connection is unstable, consider resetting your router or connecting to a different network.
Clear your browser cache
Over time, your browser's cache can accumulate data that may interfere with the login process. Clear your browser cache and cookies to eliminate any potential conflicts. Instructions for clearing cache differ depending on the browser you are using. Check your browser's documentation or search online for detailed instructions.
To clear your cache in Microsoft Edge, follow these steps:
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click on the three dots (menu) in the upper-right corner of the browser window.
- Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
- In the left-hand menu, click on Privacy, search, and services.
- Under the Clear browsing data section, click on Choose what to clear.
- In the pop-up window, select the Time range for which you want to clear the cache (e.g., Last hour, Last 24 hours, All time).
- Check the box next to Cached images and files.
- Click on the Clear now button.
Disable browser extensions
Temporarily disable any browser extensions, add-ons, or plugins that may interfere with the login process. Some extensions can cause conflicts or affect the functionality of web applications. Restart your browser after disabling the extensions and attempt to log in again. Check your browser's documentation or search online for detailed instructions.
Try a different browser
If you have ongoing login issues, try accessing the portal using a different web browser. This can help you work out if the problem is browser-specific. Popular alternative browsers include Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari. Install and use a different browser to see if the login issue persists.
Try incognito mode
If you have ongoing login issues, try accessing the portal using Incognito mode. This is a privacy feature available in most web browsers, such as Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. When you browse in incognito mode, your browser doesn't save your browsing history, cookies, site data, or information entered in forms.
To enable Incognito mode in Microsoft Edge, you need to open an InPrivate window. Here's how you can do it:
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click on the three dots (menu) in the upper-right corner of the browser window.
- Select New InPrivate window from the dropdown menu.
System maintenance or outages
Occasionally, the Parent Portal may undergo maintenance or experience service disruptions. During these times:
- Check the home page for any maintenance notices.
- If the portal is down, try again later.
- For urgent issues, contact the appropriate team via phone or email.
Being able to progress and submit forms
Every form has questions that must be completed and answered on each page before you can proceed to the next page. If the 'Next' button is greyed out and doesn't work, please scroll up and check that all fields have been filled in. Mandatory fields are marked with a red asterisk (*).
When you successfully submit the form, you will be taken to the "Thank you" page to confirm that the form has been submitted. Please make sure you reach this page before leaving the site.
Where visible, remember to select the 'save/save for later' button as you progress through each page of the form. This will prevent the loss of information if, for any reason, the web page closes or you lose connection.

Where can I find a childcare place?
You will need to accept your funded childcare place at an Ofsted registered early years provider. Not all providers are registered to deliver funded childcare, please visit Childcare Finder to search for childcare settings in your area who offer FEET. Your child may be able to attend a day nursery, preschool, maintained nursery school, nursery class in a maintained or academy school, independent school, or childminder.
Nannies and home carers are currently not permitted to register on the Early Years Register and cannot therefore receive early education funding.
If you would like further support in securing a place at a childcare setting in your area which meets your needs, please contact the Family Information Service (FIS) on 0300 200 1004 or email surrey.fis@surreycc.gov.uk.
